03-30-2025Entrepreneurs: The IA Takeover and The Fight to Save the Arts with Ken Dashow + Others, Episode #253

Our Featured Guest for Sunday, March 30, 2025 is Ken Dashow

AI is revolutionizing entertainment, but at what cost? In this episode, legendary radio host Ken Dashow of Q104.3 dives into the growing threat of AI in music, radio, and Hollywood. Can AI ever replace human creativity, or is it simply stealing from real artists? From the Beatles’ “Now and Then” to deepfake dangers, we explore the future of media, the fight for intellectual property rights, and what we can do to protect the soul of entertainment.

Ken Dashow is a writer, performer, director and a disc jockey at New York City’s WAXQ “Q104.3” classic rock radio station. He is also voicetracked to Classic Rock WBGG-FM “Big 105.9” in Miami, WPYX PYX106, 106.5 in Albany, NY, WNNJ 103.7 in Newton, NJ, and WEGR Rock 103, 102.7 FM in Memphis. Brooklyn born and raised, he has spent the last 30 years in New York radio. He has written several plays, a collection of which was published by Dramatists Play Service entitled Dashow Must Go On, and Rock is Dead which was produced Off-Broadway at the SoHo Playhouse. His screenplays The Naked Detective and Desire have become cult classics.

Ken is NOT “Hipster” Brooklyn where every guy looks like he’s going to operate a steam engine but REAL Brooklyn: guys named “Charlie Bricks” and “Jimmy Shoes.” At Q104.3, his afternoons are a no-politics fun zone filled with great music, free concert tickets, live performances and sharing bizarre, real-life moments that we can laugh at together. Whether it’s rocking the workday afternoon and drive home or “Breakfast With The Beatles” on Sunday mornings, Ken sums it up in 3 words: LONG LIVE ROCK!

His podcast, “Ken Dashow’s Beatles Revolution”, is about picking apart why and how The Beatles phenomenon occurred. The show gets into the combination of talent, hard work and luck that changed everything. Read more at: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/ken-dashows-beatles-revolution/id1260609816

Mehdi Javanmard is the co-founder of RizLab Health, a spinoff of the Nano Bioelectronics Laboratory at Rutgers University. RizLab Health is designing the future of rapid help practitioners & patients get white blood count measurements to obtain results within minutes. RizLab works to bring white blood count analysis to the patient’s fingertips using a wireless Artificial Intelligence-fired pocket-sized fully electronic analyzer. The CytoTracker is an ultra-compact all-electronic cytometer capable of quantifying the white blood cells with differentials in blood. The CytoTracker can also quantify important the absolute neutrophil count, and the absolute lymphocyte count, along with the percentages.

Mehdi Javanmard is also a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Rutgers School of Engineering. He launched RizLab Health based on advances in his Rutgers lab and with support from the Office for Research.

To date, the existing FDA-approved commercially available analyzers are expensive, bulky, and require professionals. Many of the existing platforms provide a variety of other tests and are high in throughput. The CytoTracker, an inexpensive lightweight pocket-sized rapid, and easy to use can be a market disruptive device, filling the void.

In collaboration with a clinical team at the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School Clinical Research Center led by Dr. Tanaya Bhowmick and the Baylor College of Medicine Department of Emergency Medicine, the device was successfully tested in trials by pitting the device in a head-to-head comparison with a lab benchtop hematology analyzer, a conventional blood testing technique. The results showed the CytoTracker Leukometer to be at least 97% accurate and meet clinical standards.

RizLab Health has received private funding from SOSV and was selected to be part of IndieBioNY Class 3 cohort. RizLab Health also received funding from BARDA DRIVE, TRISH, The National Science Foundation, and The New Jersey Economic Development Agency. Read more at: https://www.rizlabhealth.com/
